This year Denmark is excellently represented at the Venice Biennale’s festival of contemporary music: Hans Abrahamsen’s major orchestral work Four Pieces for Orchestra will be played on 6th October at the Teatro la Fenice by the Orchestra Sinfonica Nationale della Rai, conducted by Johannes Debus. Four Pieces for Orchestra was originally composed as a commission from the Danish National Symphony Orchestra/DR, and the same orchestra premiered the work in 2004. In August 2005 Four Pieces for Orchestra was played at the Royal Albert Hall during the BBC Proms.
