On Christmas Day

'On Christmas Day' is a newly released 2-CD set on EMI Classics of carols commissioned specially for the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at King’s College Chapel, Cambridge. Included on the discs are carols by several Music Sales composers. On Christmas Day to my heart by Richard Rodney Bennett, In Wintertime by Lennox Berkeley, Illuminare, Jerusalem by Judith Weir, One star, at last by Peter Maxwell Davies and Winter Solstice Carol by Giles Swayne.

This year on Christmas Eve the choir of King’s College Cambridge will premiere a new carol Away in a Manger by John Tavener. A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols is at 3pm, and is also broadcast live on BBC Radio 4.
