On 2 December, there will be a double premiere performance by the NHK Symphony Orchestra conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen. The orchestra will perform a new symphonic work by Karen Tanaka and also a work by Salonen himself. The latter is a co-commission of Suntory Hall and the Norddeutscher Rundfunk Hamburg who will give the European premiere in March 2003 with Christoph Eschenbach conducting. In July this year, the NHK Symphony Orchestra under Tadaaki Otaka premiered another work by Karen Tanaka, Lost Sanctuary.
