On 17 April 2026, Violin Concerto: Requiem by Markku Klami receives its world premiere with Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra at Tampre Hall, as a part of the Tampere Biennale.
Written for violinist Maria Puusaari, the concerto is a deeply personal requiem for an unborn life. Across three movements, De profundis, Alcheringa, and Ad lucem, Klami traces an emotional journey from anger and frustration, through a dreamlike and fragile state where hope briefly emerges to a final striving towards light.
Blending the intensity of a concerto with the reflective character of a requiem, the work unfolds as both an intimate and universal meditation on loss, longing, and resilience.
