Eivind Buene's orchestration of Robert Schumann's iconic song cycle Dichterliebe will be featured in a special concert presented by Arktisk Filharmoni on 6 February 2026 in Bodø in Norway marking Samij álmmukbiejvve (The Sámi National Day).
Buene's orchestration offers a new orchestral perspective on Schumann's iconic song cycle, expanding its expressive range while remaining attentive to the work's intimate and poetic character. In this performance, Dichterliebe is performed in a Lule Sámi translation, to celebrate the Sámi cultural heritage.
The performance features mezzo-soprano Adrian Angelico as a soloist and is conducted by Gunvald Ottesen, leading Arktisk Filharmoni. Buene's orchestral treatment cast the famous cycle in a fresh sonic light, highlighting its emotional contrasts and formal clarity.
