The annual Malcolm Arnold Festival celebrates the work of one fo England's most prolific, colourful and charismatic composers, Sir Malcolm Arnold (1921-2006). Marking its 20th edition this year, 2025's ’20 for 20’ theme brings all 20 of the composer's concerti for solo instruments to Northampton, the town of his birth, over the course of this weekend, October 18-19 2025.
Whilst perhaps known most widely for his internationally famous film scores and symphonic works, Arnold's concertos mark the versatility of his writing and his ability to conjure his characteristic colourfulness across a range of solo instruments in a manner appealing to performers and listeners alike.
