Edward Gregson featured at Presteigne Festival 2025 as composer-in-residence, with seven of his works, including two world premieres, performed across the six-day festival. Landing during a busy summer for Gregson during his 80th birthday year, the event felt like a special celebration of one of the UK's most widely-renowned composers.

Gregson's Aubade for String Orchestra was one of the works to receive its world premiere, performed by the Presteigne Festival Orchestra on Monday August 25. A reworking of Gregson's own 2nd String Quartet, Aubade is dedicated to George Vass who also conducted the work.

The other premiere for Gregson was Dances Old and Newa brand new work for solo cello performed beautifully by Gemma Rosefield.

If you missed it, look out for upcoming performances of Gregson's work here.
