Edward Gregson featured at Presteigne Festival 2025 as composer-in-residence, with seven of his works, including two world premieres, performed across the six-day festival. Landing during a busy summer for Gregson during his 80th birthday year, the event felt like a special celebration of one of the UK's most widely-renowned composers.
Gregson's Aubade for String Orchestra was one of the works to receive its world premiere, performed by the Presteigne Festival Orchestra on Monday August 25. A reworking of Gregson's own 2nd String Quartet, Aubade is dedicated to George Vass who also conducted the work.
The other premiere for Gregson was Dances Old and New, a brand new work for solo cello performed beautifully by Gemma Rosefield.
