Wise Music Group has signed a long-term publishing agreement with Spanish composer, Raquel García Tomás. García Tomás joins the roster of Unión Musical Ediciones alongside some of Spain’s greatest classical composers including, Albéniz, Granados, Vives, Turina, Mompou, Toldrá, Esplá and Guridi. And most recently, Benet Casablancas, Ramón Paus, Ricardo Curto, and Joan Valent.
García Tomás is one of the Spanish outstanding composers of the new generation. She has recently been awarded “Premio Nacional de Cultura” by the Catalonia Government. Her latest orchestral work, Ceci n’est pas une valse, was premiered by Real Filharmonía de Galicia last November, conducted by Baldur Brönnimann. Her most recent work, Vols brisés for cello and choir was premiered by Nicolas Alstaedt at Palau de la Música, Barcelona, on May 11th, 2025.

About García Tomás
In 2020, Raquel García Tomás received the Spain National Award of Music for the interdisciplinary, innovative, and daring nature of a distinctive and unique compositional language.
Her music has been performed in venues such as the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Auditorio Nacional de Música de Madrid, L'Auditori de Barcelona, Palau de la Música Catalana, Wigmore Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Philharmonie du Luxembourg, Het Concertgebouw, Wiener Konzerthaus, Musikverein, Müpa Budapest and the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art in Prague, among others.
Highlighted recent world premieres have been Las constelaciones que más brillan, premiered at L’Auditori de Barcelona and performed by the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ludovic Morlot. Followed by performances at Elbphilharmonie and the Konserthuset in Stockholm. Her string quartet “à plein”, was premiered by Cuarteto Quiroga at Palau de la Música Catalana.
In the 2024-2025 season, Raquel is the composer-in-residence at Real Filharmonía de Galicia. She is also a featured composer at Palau de la Música Catalana alongside Steve Reich.
