Edition Peters Group is sad to announce the death of the composer Erhard Grosskopf who passed away in Berlin on 17 April 2025. He was 91.
Grosskopf studied church music and composition with Ernst Pepping and Boris Blacher in Berlin. He has been a member of the Akademie der Künste since 1994, Deputy Director of the Music Section from 2003 to 2008 and subsequently its Director until 2012. Grosskopf has influenced contemporary music in many different ways: In the 1970s he was co-editor of the magazine Berliner Hefte, from 1978 to 1998 initiator and curator of the concert series Insel Musik in Berlin, from 1982 to 1992 lecturer at the International Summer Courses in Darmstadt.His works have been published by Edition Peters since 2005.
Erhard Grosskopf was a very friendly and open minded person.
