The North Sydney Symphony Orchestra delights in showcasing a new edition of Piano Concerto by Australian composer Ross Edwards. This concerto was premiered in 1983 to great critical acclaim, and has since been performed many times both in Australia and overseas. It features exuberant dance rhythms, colourful instrumentation and conventional tonality; an expression of the pure joy of living.
This edition contains a substantially longer final movement. Edwards wanted the concerto to sparkle and showcase the piano to a greater extent.
"Quirky, raucously exhilarating, at times almost nostalgically lyrical, it has kept listeners on their toes for more than two decades and remains one of the most popular compositions by an Australian composer".
Fred Watson

She has also released a number of CDs.
Rounding out this concert will be a concert favourite Pictures at an Exhibition by Modeste Mussorgsky.
