Roxanna Panufnik’s new work premieres at LIFEM

The London International Festival of Early Music (LIFEM) have commissioned Roxanna Panufnik to write a new work for harpsichord virtuoso Jane Chapman to celebrate their 50th anniversary festival, which premieres on Thursday November 9.

The piece takes inspiration from the composer William Byrd’s arrangement of John Dowland’s Pavana Lachrymae (Pavan of tears). Roxanna Panufnik conjures a set of variations which takes the listener on a journey ending in a joyous return, hence, Tears, no more
