Peter Gregson's immersive 'Patina' premiere and Quartets at Southbank Centre
'Patina'

This autumn on November 4, the Queen Elizabeth Hall at Southbank will host Peter Gregson as he presents his work as it's never been experienced before.

Released across the past decade, Gregson's Quartet's are multi-movement works for String Quartet and Synthesizer. Having been heard individually around the world in ballets, films, fashion shows and ads, here they will be performed as a complete body of work for the first time ever.

The quartets will be performed at the Purcell Room by the Carducci Quartet with Peter on synths (8.30pm), followed by a first ever live performance of the full Patina album. Patina, the critically aclaimed Dolby Atmos album from Gregson released on Deutsche Grammophon in 2021, is his most personal yet. The ideas of ‘the presence of absence’ central to the composition of every track. Written and recorded for spatial audio, here it will be performed by Peter on cello, string ensemble and synthesisers, in the brutalist surroundings of the Queen Elizabeth Hall Foyer in an immersive sound environment designed by Brett Cox.
