A Carol for Kings

John Tavener has been commissioned to write a carol by King’s College Cambridge for this year’s A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. The carol will be premiered on Christmas Eve by the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge and broadcast live on BBC Radio 3.

Previous commissions from Chester and Novello composers include Illuminare Jerusalem by Judith Weir, On Christmas Day by Richard Rodney Bennett and Winter Solstice Carol by Giles Swayne.

The Choir of King’s College, Cambridge will also be performing several other works by John Tavener, Kenneth Leighton, Giles Swayne, Herbert Howells and Ralph Vaughan Williams in their 2005-2006 concert season. For further details please see the College’s website
