The world premiere of Hans Abrahamsen’s new work Violin for Carolin will take place May 7, 2022 at the Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik.

Violin for Carolin was written for Carolin Widmann and commissioned by Westdeutscher Rundfunk for Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik 2022 and Hindsgavl Festival 2022.

In Violin for Carolin Abrahamsen tells the story of his relation to the violin. Starting with his uncle Vagn and his love of the Danish folk song ‘I went out on a summer’s day’, through Mozart’s fifth violin concerto and Bach. An ode to open strings, the music flows through five movements.

The Danish premiere will take place at Hindsgavl Festival July 11, 2022.
