The shortlist of this year’s Royal Philharmonic Society Awards have been announced, with Du Yun being nominated within the Chamber-Scale Composition category.
Every Grass a Spring for baritone, sheng, pipa and electronics was written for the filmed sequence ‘Eight Songs from Isolation’ and Du Yun poignantly uses text from a newspaper reporter embedded in Wuhan during the pandemic to powerfully express our shared experience of isolation since the start of the global pandemic.
The 2021 Royal Philharmonic Society Awards take place at Wigmore Hall, London on Monday
November 1, and will be available to watch on the RPS website as well as broadcast live on BBC Radio 3.
