Missy Mazzoli is this year's Bergen International Festival composer.

At a young age, Missy Mazzoli has had a great breakthrough as a composer.
Her music is accessible and modern at the same time.
She speaks to a large audience, but with a very personal voice which demonstrates that she is on her way to becoming one of her generation’s leading figures in American music
- Anders Beyer, Artistic Director

The Bergen International Festival is world-renowned for its extraordinary versatility, its unique vision, and its unparalleled history. I am honoured to be part of this ambitious celebration of music from all eras

The next generation of female composers from an American talent factory.
"This year's Festival composer, Missy Mazzoli, was involved in 2016 with the inception of the mentoring programme Luna Composition Lab along with Ellen Reid and the Kaufman Music Center in New York. The programme, directed at young composers who are female, non-binary or gender nonconforming, aims to lower the threshold for these groups to commit to a career in composing, where they are under-represented."
