The brand new production of Prima Donna by Rufus Wainwright from Swedish Opera is available to watch online until May 5.
Rufus Wainwright said of the production “This was a miraculous feat pulled off by the Swedish Royal opera during the height of Covid with Jayce Ogren conducting, directed by Mårten Forslund with amazing sets by Sabine Theunissen and a wonderful cast. It’s a great production and I think the reduced orchestration actually works better for the piece.
During Covid I have still been working hard to hold up my end of the bargain and try to keep opera alive during a very complicated situation for the arts, and I’m ready to keep fighting – watch out for news of Hadrian in Spain”
Wainwright’s Romantic opera Prima Donna was presented in a new production and a reduced orchestration by the Royal Swedish Opera running from October 10 to November 14, 2020.
