Philip Glass’s latest opera is based on the life of the 16th century scientist and accused heretic Galileo. Directed by Mary Zimmerman, celebrated for her distinctive visual flair and fresh approach to epic theatre, the new opera will be premiered on 24 June at the Albert Ivar Goodman Theatre in Chicago. Look out for the European premiere of the work at the Barbican Theatre in November during BITE, the Barbican’s annual festival of international theatre, dance and music.
