Opera Philadelphia’s Digital Festival O (Opera on the Couch) culminates this week with Missy Mazzoli and Royce Vavrek’s award-winning opera Breaking the Waves, characterized by the Wall Street Journal as "…savage, heartbreaking and thoroughly original" and based on Lars von Trier’s groundbreaking 1996 film. Watch this newly edited performance film of the 2016 world premiere production, directed by James Darrah, conducted by Steven Osgood, and featuring soprano Kiera Duffy and baritone John Moore in the leading roles of Bess and Jan. This free stream of Breaking the Waves premieres on Friday May 29 at 8pm and is available on-demand through August 31, 2020.

And be sure to catch at 7pm The Show Before the Show: a newly recorded pre-show chat with Missy Mazzoli, Royce Vavrek, James Darrah and Kiera Duffy, hosted by Opera Philadelphia's Frank Luzi and Sarah Williams.
