The international music scene is gradually moving in the right direction, with more and more women composers being played and commissioned by festivals, ensembles and orchestras all over the world.
But still, it is a long haul until we can enjoy the full bloom of all talent – regardless of gender – and it is therefore a privilege for Edition Wilhelm Hansen to be asked to contribute to the Pauline Hall Competition, pushing this development just a little bit further.
By encouraging the creation of new music for orchestra by women composers through a workshop and collaboration with a publisher, we hope to provide valuable experience to the participating composers, thus helping them one step closer to further orchestral commissions in the future.
We are excited to get in touch with the new music that emerges through this competition, and to play our small part in presenting it to the audience.
