Cheltenham Festival launches 2002 programme
The Cheltenham International Festival of Music has announced its programme for 2002. The festival, which takes place from 5-21 July this year, is one of the UK's most important showcases for contemporary music. Performances of works by Music Sales composers this year include the world premiere of John Tavener's Life Eternal (with BBCNOW/Richard Hickox/Patricia Rozario/Stephen Richardson); Richard Hickox also conducts the City of London Sinfonia in the World Premiere of Per Nørgård's 'Borderlines'; the London Sinfonietta celebrates Simon Bainbridge's 50th birthday with a performance of Four Primo Levi Settings and Hugh Wood's 70th with a performance of his Piano Trio; mezzo and piano duo, Polly May and Lucy Walker perform Judith Weir's Songs from the Exotic.
