Stuart MacRae's Violin Concerto

The Orchestre National de Lyon, under their conductor David Robertson, will be performing Stuart MacRae's Violin Concerto on August 22 with soloist Christian Tetzlaff. The BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ilan Volkov, will be performing Stuart MacRae's orchestral piece Sleep at the Feet of Daphne on August 21st. Both MacRae performances will take place at the Usher Hall. For further information, visit the Edinburgh Festival website. The Violin Concerto will then receive its French premiere at the Festival Musica on October 3rd in a performance given by the Orchestra Philharmonique de Strasbourg, soloist Tedi Papavrami and conductor Jan Latham-Koenig. On October 22 at St John's, Smith Square, violin and piano duo Minjin and Minjung will give the London premiere of Stuart's 'fthinoporinos' ('autumnal'), an arrangement of the Violin Concerto's slow movement, written in February 2001 in memory of Iannis Xenakis.
