Domino, the new piano concerto from Ludovico Einaudi
The world premiere of Domino, the new piano concerto by Ludovico Einaudi, will take place on March 10 and 11 at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. The pianist Ji Liu will perform the concerto with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Damian Iorio. Domino was co-commissioned by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society, to celebrate their 175th anniversary, and the West German Broadcasting Corporation. The work is scored for solo piano, harp and strings and lasts for twenty-five minutes.

Wetlands, also by Einaudi, will be included in the programme for its UK premiere performances. This fifteen minute orchestral piece was commissioned by the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Beijing for the World Environmental Day concert in 2013. The concerts will also comprise Respighi’s Church Windows and Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story.
