BBC SO Total Immersion: Henryk Górecki
On October 3 2015 the BBC Symphony Orchestra will be hosting a Total Immersion event at the Barbican, featuring the works of Henryk Górecki. Total Immersion is a fantastic series of events hosted by the BBC SO, each focussed upon one composer, section of the orchestra or genre.

The event will begin with a talk from Polish music expert Professor Adrian Thomas, speaking on the life, times and music of Górecki. This will be followed by a performance from the Silesian String Quartet of the First and Second String Quartets.

Later in the afternoon, at the Church of St Giles Cripplegate, the BBC Singers will perform some of Górecki’s religious, choral works, conducted by James Morgan. Finally the evening will conclude with a programme of larger scale works performed by the BBC SO, conducted by Antoni Wit.

This final concert will feature the Harpsichord Concerto contrasted with Symphony No 2 'Copernican'.
