Hobbit in Helsinki
Last year’s highly acclaimed ballet The Hobbit will be revived in May (May 14-31) at the Finnish National Opera. Auli Räsänen writes in Helsingin Sanomat “This dance production of The Hobbit must be the most ambitious and demanding stage production ever put on in Finland with young talent - and on the main dance stage, too! One could see in the faces of the young performers during the curtain calls how their tension subsided into delight as the tumultuous appreciation of the audience flooded the stage.” The production is a unique collaboration of the Finnish National Opera Ballet School and the Sibelius Academy for which Marjo Kuusela created the choreography and which was conducted by the young Hungarian Tibor Bogányi.
