On May 1 The Temple Church Choir will be joined by Raphael Wallfisch and the Britten Sinfonia to present a concert in honour of Sir John Tavener, in association with Classic FM. The music of the late composer is particularly significant to Temple Church Choir as the present choir shot back to prominence with the commission and – at The Temple Church itself – the premiere of John Tavener’s all-night musical vigil The Veil of the Temple.
Conducted by Director of Music Roger Sayer, The Temple Church Choir will perform some Tavener choral favourites including The Lamb, The Tyger and Song for Athene. Cellist Raphael Wallfisch will perform The Protecting Veil with Britten Sinfonia.
