Nico Muhly’s Mind-blowing Quinfecta Premieres this month with
The Metropolitan Opera
The New York City Ballet
The Philadelphia Orchestra
on Broadway
...and in Hollywood!
This concert season sets off with an unprecedented quinfecta of distinguished premieres across all major genres by the intrepid and talented Nico Muhly.
The Metropolitan Opera gives the much anticipated US premiere of Muhly's hauntingly beautiful and dramatically chilling opera, Two Boys, in dates running from October 21 through November 14.
The New York City Ballet Fall Gala on September 19 featured the world premiere of Neverwhere choreographed by Muhly's frequent collaborator Benjamin Millepied to his moody piece Drones and Viola.
On September 26, The Philadelphia Orchestra and The Westminster Symphonic Choir premiere a newly commissioned orchestral version of Muhly's Bright Mass with Canons under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin and featuring the Fred J. Cooper Memorial Organ.
Tickets are now on sale for the latest Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie, starring Cherry Jones and directed by John Tiffany, with original music by Muhly. The Glass Menagerie opens September 26 and plays a 17-week limited engagement.
And the indefatigable Muhly scored Kill Your Darlings. In this glimpse of the early Beat Generation, a young Allen Ginsberg (Daniel Radcliffe) and William S. Burroughs (Ben Foster) are entangled in the murder of Burroughs' friend David Kammerer.
