‘Love From A Stranger’ is the first in a series of film scores written by Benjamin Britten in the 1930s to be published by Chester Music. Colin Matthews has reconstructed the score from sketches in the Britten-Pears Library, the original score having been lost. The study score is now available on sale and the parts on hire. ‘Love From A Stranger’ was a thriller based on an Agatha Christie short story. ‘Night Mail’, on the other hand, the film score for which Britten is perhaps best known and which will be published this spring, was one of many written for the GPO Film Unit. The parts are already available on hire.
