Working with John Cox, librettist and noted Oscar Wilde scholar, composer Theo Morrison created his opera Oscar based on the trials, imprisonment and final days of this infamous and beloved literary genius and aesthete. Charismatic counter-tenor David Daniels, who has worked closely with Morrison over many years and was instrumental in the development of the project, portrays Oscar. Kevin Newbury directs a cast which also features Heidi Stober, William Burden and Dwayne Croft. Evan Rogister conducts. Commissioned by Santa Fe Opera and Opera Philadelphia, Oscar premieres July 27 – August 17 in Santa Fe.
