SYNOPSIS
The story takes place on New York's Long Island in the heady, indulgent days of the 1920s. Young Midwesterner Nick Carraway meets his infamous neighbour Jay Gatsby - a mysterious millionaire with a secret past and a penchant for lavish parties. As the sparkling façade of Gatsby's world begins to slip, Carraway comes to see the loneliness, obsession and tragedy that lie beneath.
ABOUT THE PRODUCTION
The seductive style of the era is recreated through stunning sets and costumes and the music which features various pieces from Bennett's impressive repertoire including the theme from Murder on the Orient Express, Partita and I Never Went Away. As one of Britain's most respected and versatile musicians, Bennett produced over two hundred works for the concert hall and fifty scores for film and television, as well as having been a writer and performer of jazz songs for fifty years.
