Cheltenham Festival 2005

Cheltenham Festival 2005
The opening night of the Cheltenham International Festival of Music features a fully staged production of The Soldier's Tale by Igor Stravinsky. Musicians from the Academy of St Martin in the Fields perform, and Anthony Marwood plays the naïve Soldier, who fatefully hands his violin to Satan.

In Martyn Brabbins' first year as Artistic Director he has also chosen works by composers as diverse as Holst, Poulenc, Jonathan Harvey (in residence at the festival) and Witold Lutoslawski - see www.cheltenhamfestivals.org.uk for the festival website.
