Adriana Mater - Merja Mäkelä nominated for prestigious Faust prize

The German Première of Adriana Mater was staged at Theater Osnabrück in March 2011 under the direction of Andrea Schwalbach and conducted by Hermann Bäumer. The production received critical acclaim with the young Finnish mezzo-soprano Merja Mäkelä singing the role of Adriana. Now the Deutsch Bühnenverein has published the nominations for the highly respected Deutscher Theaterpreis, Der Faust. The prize will be announced on November 5th 2011 and will be given in eight categories such as stage direction for a play, stage direction for music theatre, choreography, actor, singer-actor (Sängerdarsteller), dancer-actor (Darsteller Tanz)

Merja Mäkelä has been nominated in the singer-actor category which has in previous years been won by Eva-Maria Westbroek, Michael Volle, Angela Denoke to name a few.
