The Classic Brit Awards 2011
On Thursday May 12, London's Royal Albert Hall will open its doors to some of the biggest names in classical music for the Classic Brit Awards. Now in its twelfth year, the ceremony celebrates the monumental achievements of British and international artists over the preceding year as well as featuring performances from a host of world-class soloists.

Once again, the event will be hosted by Myleene Klass, while others already confirmed to perform on the night include Chester Music composer Eric Whitacre conducting his choir the Eric Whitacre Singers, Dame Shirley Bassey with a tribute to John Barry, Katherine Jenkins, Russell Watson, the cast of Les Misérables with Alfie Boe and ‘Artist of the Decade’ Il Divo. Also on the bill is two-time Classic BRIT award-winner, trumpeter Alison Balsom and German virtuoso violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter.

The nominees have been announced, including Eric Whitacre as Composer of the Year and Aled Jones’s album Christmas Gift (Demon Music) in the Classic FM Album of the Year category. See the full list here

The ceremony will be televised in full on ITV1 at 10.30pm on Sunday, May 29.
