Music Sales at #1 in the charts with The Rolling Stones. Their cover of Slim Harpo’s Shake Your Hips on Exile on Main St tops the charts again.

For the first time in 16 years, The Rolling Stones top the UK album chart, after their reissued 1972 album Exile on Main St (Polydor/Universal) hit No 1. The classic album features the band’s cover of Slim Harpo’s Shake Your Hips which is published by Music Sales. The Stones, and Keith Richards in particular, were huge fans of the American blues musician whose other songs include I’m a King Bee (also covered by the Rolling Stones) and Strange Love.

On its first release in June 1972, Exile also went to the top of the UK chart then dipped to No. 3 in a 16-week run. Now augmented with a second disc of outtakes and newly-completed material, the album was in a close race throughout last week with staple dance act Faithless’ new release The Dance. But Exile stayed ahead to secure the top spot.
