On April 25 2010 the Zebra Trio (Ernst Kovacic, Steven Dann and Anssi Karttunen) will present the world premiere of the string trio Sway by Rolf Wallin at the prestigious chamber music festival Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik in Witten. A further performance will follow next year at the Borealis Festival.
Although the musicians have known each other for many years they have only recently formed the Zebra Trio, with its German debut being in Witten. Energetically looking for new works for the ensemble, Sway is the first of a whole series
of pieces specifically written for the group. Other composers to follow include Kaija Saariaho, Simon Bainbridge,
HK Gruber and Johannes Maria Staud.
