2009 British Composer Awards: Holt and Tavener win

Two Chester Music composers received awards at the 2009 British Composer Awards. The awards were presented at a ceremony on December 1st at The Law Society, London.

In the orchestral category, Simon Holt won for his 2007 work for percussion and orchestra, a table of noises . This work was written for Colin Currie, who perfomed the premiere performance with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in May 2008.

John Tavener won the Liturgical category for his carol sequence Ex Maria Virgine.

The Awards were presented by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors and sponsored by PRS for Music. In association with BBC Radio 3.
