Rolf Wallin – Festival Composer at Risør 2009

Norwegian composer Rolf Wallin is the Festival Composer for this year’s Risør Festival of Chamber Music
(23 – 28 June 2009). A highlight of the festival will be the brand new work by Wallin entitled Under City Skin for viola, string orchestra and surround sound. This has been commissioned by the festival and will be premiered on June 24 by Lars Anders Tomter with the Risør Festival Strings and conductor Christian Eggen. Other works of Wallin’s to be performed include Twine, The Age of Wire and String, Boyl, Purge and Drei Gedichte von Rainer Maria Rilke.

The Artistic Directors of the Festival are Leif Ove Andsnes and Lars Anders Tomter. Due to their networks and international careers, they have presented top international artists at Risør throughout the history of the festival, with repertoire covering the 18th to 21st centuries. The Artistic Directors also focus on presenting Norwegian and contemporary music and always play a leading musical role in the festival.
