New Horovitz release

20th Century Clarinet Music, a recent CD featuring Karl Leister, clarinet, and Ferenc Bognar, piano, includes two Novello works: Dance Preludes by Lutoslawski and the Clarinet Sonatina by Joseph Horovitz. The CD is on the Caro Mitis Label (CAM 28156).
Karl Leister is an internationally known clarinettist: a member of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Herbert von Karajan for thirty years, he was one of the founders of the "Berlin Philharmonic Winds”, the Berlin Soloists and the Ensemble Wien-Berlin. He has been a guest Professor at the Royal Academy of Music, London, and a Professor at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler, Berlin.
Joseph Horovitz’s brass quartet, Variations on a Theme of Paganini, is included on another recent release: Tribute by Eminence Brass (Doyen CD 257), performed by Richard Marshall, Philip Cobb (cornets), Owen Farr (horn) and David Childs (euphonium).
