Adams and O’Regan at Brighton Festival
The UK premiere of The Ecstasies Above by Tarik O’Regan takes place at the Brighton Festival on May 7. A setting of Edgar Allen Poe for semichorus, choir and string quartet, the piece sets the heavenly vision of the angel Israfel against the harsh reality of human existence. Conducted by James Morgan, and featuring the Brighton Festival Chorus, the Brodsky Quartet and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the American themed programme also includes John Adams’ modern classic Harmonium.
