Christmas carol premieres
Four new carols for Advent and Christmas by Richard Rodney Bennett and John McCabe receive their premieres this festive season.

McCabe’s The last and greatest Herald will be performed by the choir of St John’s College, Cambridge (pictured) conducted by Andrew Nethsingha at their Advent carol service on November 29, and broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 the following day.

McCabe returns to his native city for the premiere of I sing of a maiden at Liverpool Cathedral on December 20.

Bennett has turned to two familiar Christmas texts in his latest choral pieces. VocalEssence conducted by Philip Brunelle give the first performance of My Dancing Day in Minneapolis on December 7. The piece has been commissioned by Jerry Johnson and VocalEssence in memory of JoAnn Catherine Johnson.

I wonder as I wander has been commissioned by DeChorum for a concert in aid of Cancer Research UK on December 22.
