British Composer Awards Shortlist Announced
The shortlist for the British Composer Awards 2008 was announced on October 24, on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune programme. Preview material will be featured in Performance on 3 from November 24 - 26 and again from December 1 - 3. Three Music Sales composers received nominations for awards.

In the vocal category, Simon Holt is nominated for Sueños , a work for baritone and orchestra, premiered by Roderick Williams and the London Sinfonietta.

Kaija Saariaho is nominated for the International Award for her 2007 work for cello, soprano and orchestra entitled Mirage . Hans Werner Henze is also nominated in this category for his orchestral work Sebastian im Traum .

The awards will be presented at a ceremony to be held on December 2 at The Law Society, this will be broadcast on Radio 3 on December 3 from 7pm. For more information about the awards visit www.britishacademy.com
