Kenneth Leighton at choral evensong
2nd July 2008
Leighton, who died twenty years ago this year, began his musical life as a chorister at Wakefield Cathedral and went on to make one of the most significant contributions to the late twentieth century choral repertoire. Beginning with the GM Hopkins setting God’s Grandeur and Leighton’s Preces and Responses, the Trinity College choir under its director Stephen Layton will perform the canticles written for Magdalen College, Oxford, in 1959 and the anthem What Love is this of thine?
The service will be available to listen again for seven days following its broadcast.
