On June 30, Esa-Pekka Salonen celebrates his 50th birthday. To mark the occasion, a gala concert entitled Esa-Pekka & Friends will take place on June 18 at Berwaldhallen, Stockholm. The concert will feature the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Anne Sofie von Otter, Viktoria Mullova, Håkan Hardenberger, Eva Dahlgren and many more Swedish and international artists - all conducted by Esa-Pekka himself. The evening will include music by Salonen, R Strauss, Shostakovich and fellow Finn, Kaija Saariaho.
