Rain Starts Play

Rain Starts Play
A brand new ensemble makes its debut in May with a concert named after and including Anthony Payne’s
Symphonies of Wind and Rain.

The Azalea Ensemble was formed by Scott Lygate and Christopher Austin, and draws on students from the Royal Academy of Music. Alongside Payne’s intriguing work, which alternates a repeating refrain with short sections that resemble vestiges of movements of an unwritten symphony, the ensemble perform pieces by Takemitsu and Luke Bedford. This debut concert at the Royal Academy of Music takes place at 1.05pm on 15 May, and is free of charge.
