The contemporary music series of North German Broadcasting Station, das neue werk, NDR, has this year been dedicated to Kaija Saariaho. It will encompass a concert by the NDR Symphony Orchestra conducted by Susanna Mälkki and a visualised chamber music concert with Camilla Hoitenga, flute and Melanie Walz, Soprano. On April 25 2008 Aile du Songe , Nymphea Reflection and the German premiere of Cinq Reflets will be presented followed by the chamber music concert on April 26 for which Jean-Baptiste Barrière will create the visuals.
The NDR Symphony Orchestra will also present the German premiere of the acclaimed cello concerto Notes on Light on May 29 and 30 with Sylvain Cambreling conducting and Anssi Karttunen as soloist. It will be the 8th performance since its world premiere in February 2007 and more performances to come in New York at the Lincoln Centre Festival, Amsterdam (Concertgeouw Orkest) and Copenhagen later this year.
