Gabriel Yared wrote the score to The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency with late director Anthony Minghella. Based on the popular novel by Alexander McCall Smith, this was their fifth film together after The English Patient (which won Yared an Oscar), The Talented Mr. Ripley, Cold Mountain and last year’s Breaking and Entering. This new film is a drama comedy about a woman in Botswana who starts up the country’s first female-owned detective agency. Mirage Enterprises, Film Afrika Worldwide and The Weinstein Company produced this release, which recently aired on BBC1.
