A Wigmore Hall concert on 17 September celebrates the 80th anniversary of Nielsen's famous London visit in 1923. On that occasion he conducted the London Symphony Orchestra in a concert given under the patronage of Queen Alexandra, daughter of King Christian IX.
80 years on, Signe Asmussen (mezzo soprano), Johannes Søe Hansen (violin) and Morten Mogensen (piano) perform the Violin Sonata No. 2 in G minor, Op. 35; Six Songs; Chaconne for piano, Op. 32; Vocalise-étude; Prelude, Theme and Variations for solo violin, Op. 48. To finish, the Royal Danish Winds play the Wind Quintet, Op. 43. Tickets cost between £8 and £15, and are available from the Wigmore Hall Box Office on 020 7935 2141. The concert is supported by The Royal Danish Embassy.
