To celebrate the 70th birthday of Philip Glass, the Barbican presents a weekend of concerts and events covering 35 years of his working life. Glassworks (19 – 21 October) will showcase a broad range of his creative output and will also feature a performance by the composer himself. On October 20, Philip Glass and Patti Smith perform Book of Longing which is a newly-commissioned song cycle based on the poems of Leonard Cohen. The weekend will also include a performance of the rarely heard Music in 12 Parts.
