St Petersburg Festival
Music by Malcolm Arnold will herald the start of the inaugural St Petersburg Festival of British Music on October 31. His Symphony No 5 will provide the centerpiece to the opening concert in the Beloselsky-Belozersky Palace by the State Academic Orchestra conducted by the festival’s director Rudi Eastwood.

The festival, which runs for one month, aims to celebrate the music of British composers through the ages whilst also providing a platform for the country’s emerging performers. A number of other Arnold works will be featured, as well as the celebrated Piano Concerto by John Ireland on 1 December. The soloist will be Tom Poster, fresh from winning first prize at the recent Scottish International Piano Competition.
