Corigliano: A Hampson Premiere

Thomas Hampson will give the vocal premiere of John Corigliano's One Sweet Morning on October 10 at the Manhattan School of Music with pianist Craig Rutenberg.

Its text is by E.Y. (Yip) Harburg, the lyricist of Finian's Rainbow, The Wizard of Oz, and many standards of the American popular songbook.

The American String Quartet will join Hampson for Samuel Barber's Dover Beach on the recital. The evening, "Songs From The Manhattan Songbook," is part of the Manhattan School of Music's 90th-year celebrations.Photo: Thomas Hampson, courtesy www.hampsong.com
